Credit ESPN.COM's Adam Rittenberg for an interesting article on the 2010 B1G TEN Signing Day results. http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/95234/how-did-b1gs-top-2010-recruits-pan-out
Some interesting data from his compilation of top 150 ESPN recruits:
The B1G hauled in 15: PSU (6), OSU (4), UM (2), with 1 each for Nebraska, Iowa, and Michigan State.
Of these 15 recruits; 6 are still with their team (3 are starters), 6 are no longer playing with their team, and three graduated ( 1 in the NFL)
Regarding the 6 PSU recruits(Fortt, Royer, Hailes, Bolden, Diefenbach, Olaniyan): 2 will start this year, 3 are NCAA sanction losses, and one retains his scholie as a 'coach' though he cannot play.
Observations:
1) The B1G did not recruit well
2) Only one of these kids played in the B1G championship game.
3) Analysis of High School Recruits is an overblown crapshoot.
4) NCAA sanctions really killed PSU
