Today's the day... #SigningDay ✏️🏈— Ⓜ️G (@mikegesicki) February 5, 2014
Mike Gesicki verbally committed to Penn State on October 17, 2013. He was drawn in by Bill O'Brien and his tight end heavy attack. He was also sold, however, on the school itself. Mike had his doubts when O'Brien picked up and bolted for Houston, and many (including myself) were nearly ready to accept seeing him in Columbus instead. Coach Franklin had different plans. After a visit and some reflection, Gesicki elected to remain committed to the Nittany Lions, and has been a vocal recruiter as well. He was most notably able to help persuade his future roommate, Saeed Blacknall, to commit to Penn State.
In Gesicki, Penn State will be gaining arguably its most athletic player. Not only is the Manahawkin, NJ product a 6'5", 236 lb. beast, but he can run and jump like nobody's business. When he's on the field, there will not be a player that can match up with him. He's too fast for linebackers, too physical for corners, and too big for safeties. He has the chance to be a very special player not only for Penn State, but for his future NFL team as well. When teams start seeing two tight end sets with Gesicki and Breneman, they might as well just go with a zero blitz because there's no chance they'll be able to cover both of them. Did I mention that Mike is also a fantastic basketball player? There's no doubt in my mind that he has the ability to become one of the most feared players in the Big Ten. Welcome to Penn State, Mike!
