The Big Ten hockey tournament is 4 days away. PSU is not going to play in the NCAA tournament unless they win 3 in a row (over teams that will likely all play in the tournament) to win the auto bid.
That would be awesome and great, but that is a really big long shot (obviously). There is a great second prize to play for still that is still very much in reach. Penn State can almost certainly* end Michigan's season on Thursday afternoon with a Penn State win. Think about that for a second, PSU can stomp the life out of one of college hockey's blue bloods in the post season for real.
JUST ONE MORE WIN!!!! (then another...and another)
I came up with a sample scenario that illustrates the potential perfectly.
* If all other conference tournament winners are already getting at large bids (very unlikely), Michigan can still get in even by losing to PSU. The easiest way for this to not be the case is for North Dakota to not win the NCHC tournament. Remember, it is never too early to learn to hate the North Dakota No Names.
