Ed Ruth defeats Wilps 10-3

Ed Ruth wrestled at the 2014 Flo Nationals last night taking on Pitt's former 197 lb 2-time NCAA semifinalist Matt Wilps and won soundly with a 10-3 decision (a late escape by Wilps kept it to a minor decision, not that it matters for anything). Check out Ruth's post-match interview with Flo (I tried embedding the video but Flo's videos apparently suck at being embedded, even if you customize the code).

Some interesting takeaways from the video: They were originally trying to schedule a Ruth/Taylor match but weren't able to make it happen so they found Wilps as a late opponent. Ruth's focusing on freestyle in a bid to make the US Olympic team (not that this was a surprise). He's looking to bulk to up 200 and wrestle at 86 kgs (189.5 lbs).

For anyone going to Blue & White, both Ruth and Taylor will be at Family Clothes Line before the game Saturday signing autographs.
