Pat Zerbe's career as a PSU fullback went mostly unnoticed to those who were not watching with sharp eyes. It's not surprising that his day, the 35th day before football, was overlooked as well. Last season proper attention was given to Zerbe on this day. Pat Zerbe didn't mind that the man who he had backed up for two years was used in the picture of the story because it was never really about Pat Zerbe for Pat Zerbe. For Pat Zerbe, it was PSU football first, Michael Zordich second, and Pat Zerbe third.
Pat Zerbe was the lead blocker at times last season in case anyone other than BSCAFF may have noticed. Zerbe was the third best fullback on the 2012 team behind Zordich and Zwinak coming in to the season, but he found his way on to the field during offense regularly in his senior 2013 season. He was a monster on special teams apparently, but I wouldn't have known that had Jeff Rice not mentioned it in one of his articles late last season.
Zerbe was credited with two solo tackles while never touching the ball on offense, other than one kick-off return.
He may have never touched the ball on offense, but surely he touched all of our hearts.
This Yuengling's for you Pat Zerbe. Only 35 more days until kickoff!
