Grant Haley started his career playing special teams, and currently has the record for kickoff returns at 32. Haley also saw his time at corner increase due to the injuries in the unit in 2014, and he didn’t disappoint.
Haley played all 13 games in 2014, recording 18 tackles and one interception. That interception was the pick-six against Temple, which secured bowl eligibility for the team. The pick six is also the first by a true freshman since Paul Posluszny did it in 2003.
Haley only played in 11 games due to his own injuries, but he still made his presence felt in those game. He recorded 42 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, and a forced fumble.
If the previous two seasons are any indication, Haley is poised for a big season in 2016. He’ll be counted on to provide leadership to the younger guys and serve as an anchor in the secondary.
