HIGHLIGHTS
THE TALE
Originally a quarterback recruit, Liam Clifford made the switch to wide receiver last year, and since then, has seen his stock rise tremendously. He landed multiple Power 5 offers, including one from the Nittany Lions earlier this summer after a strong camp performance on June 9.
With his big brother, Sean Clifford, entrenched as Penn State’s QB1, it only made sense that the younger Clifford would eventually find his way into the Nittany Lions’ class. He finally did so earlier today, committing just one day after taking in a White Out victory over Michigan.
OUTLOOK
Clifford joins four-star tight end Nick Elksnis and three-star offensive lineman Nate Bruce in giving Penn State a solid foundation for what should be a bounce back 2021 recruiting class. The Nittany Lions certainly need to finish the year strong, but as it turns out, going 7-0 and reaching a No. 6 ranking will do quite a bit for getting recruiting back on track.
As for Clifford specifically, he’s much more than just Sean Clifford’s little brother. He’s a good athlete, has good size (though 6-foot-1 is probably generous), and is an extremely productive player at one of the better high schools in Ohio. I’m not sure he has the frame or elite athleticism to jump into four-star territory, but the dude is a good football player, which is always a welcomed trait.
