October has arrived. To most, that means colorful leaves, pumpkins, slutty costumes, and lots of football. But it also holds a significant date for any college hoops junkie - the start of official practice. On October 12th, coaches and players will begin their journey, free from any off-season practice restrictions. Some hoops-crazy institutions will even be hosting their annual midnight madness celebrations (PSU's is scheduled for October 25th).
But what the start of practice really brings is Patrick Chambers back in action. It's year two of his reign at Penn State, and it promises to be more exciting than the first. He inherited a two-seven offsuit from the previous regime and predictably struggled to stay competitive in the mighty Big Ten. Even with the odds stacked against them, the team still delivered their fair share of exciting moments and a glimpse of an encouraging future for Penn State basketball. This year promises to bring us one step closer to that future without a doubt.
No longer a newbie, Chambers has firmly entrenched himself in his position within the athletic department. He has worked his ass off not just for his growing program, but for the entire university in its darkest time. He's been the most prominent figure of the AD on social media and around campus. He has spearheaded the department's #OneTeam motto campaign, urging students, fans, and alumni to rally around and support each other. It's almost time we get the chance to return the favor.
We couldn't be more excited for the season to commence, and we hope our enthusiasm shows in our efforts here at BSD this season. There's going to more daily hoops content this season than ever before. As you might've noticed, we've added to our staff and for good reason. Not only are we going to thoroughly cover the program's every move, but we'll also provide analysis and updates around the Big Ten all season long. Be on the lookout as we start rolling out our preseason coverage over the coming weeks. You don't want to be late on the bandwagon.
