PSU Trivia

The Nittany Turkey ran an interesting trivia question the other day. I thought I might throw it out there for the group. He confessed he didn't know the answer. I don't either, but I ventured a guess over on his site. You can go there if you want to see my guess and ruin the fun. Anyway, Penn State fans are aware of the statue of Joe Paterno outside of Beaver Stadium that was dedicated a few years ago. It looks like this:

Behind Paterno there are four football players shown on the wall like so:

The players have numbers on them as follows:

#82 #22 #43 #86

Anyone care to guess who these players are? I think I made a pretty good guess. If you want to cheat and see my guess, go to The Nittany Turkey. But I would appreciate it if you venture your guess first.

I'm not sure they represent anyone specific...but here is my guess--

82 is easily Ted Kwalick
22 is Cappy
43 is Adam Taliaferro
86 is Courtney Brown

Hey Steve, I just noticed you went to State High class of '92. I graduated from Williamsport in '92. I always thought that was a pretty good rivalry we had with you guys. Don't remember who won, but I remember they were good games.

By the way,

Cappy was my guess for #22 too. I think we can all agree on that one. Taliaferro was also my guess.

That was also my guess

that the 82 and 86 represent the championship years. While Kwalick and Brown were good players, Joe has coached dozens of All Americans. But Cappy and Taliaferro went beyond being good players. They were inspirational players. Who could forget Cappy's touching Heisman acceptance speech? Or Taliaferro running out of the tunnel after doctors said he may never walk again?

Anyway, that's my guess. Anyone know for sure or have any other guesses?

My brain doesn't work very creatively...but I see a great argument for the use of 82 and 86 as the Championship years.
