Malcolm Jenkins is a Liar

That's right. I said Malcolm Jenkins is a fucking liar. An astute Penn State alumni mole on the inside at Ohio State sent me a link to this article that appeared in the Ohio State student paper "The Latern".

Ohio State cornerback Malcolm Jenkins will never forget his first White Out.

That's good, because it may help him prepare for his second, coming up Saturday night at Penn State.

The memory is still vivid from two years later: around 21,000 fans in the Nittany Lions student section wearing blindingly white shirts, stomping their feet, roaring until they were hoarse.

Even before the Buckeyes could warm up for Penn State, they knew they were in for a long night.

"The craziest thing was that they had fans lined up from our locker room to the field," Jenkins said Tuesday, shaking his head at the recollection. "That's probably the first time -- the only time -- that's ever happened. ... People cursing you and spitting at you, and things like that."

Now I'm not saying this because I find Penn State fans incapable of such dispicable actions. I'm saying this because I was fucking there. I alway enter the gate right outside the visitor lockerroom. When the teams come out for their warmups they set up a barricade to give them a walkway to get to the field. So yeah, there were people lined up. Everyone was trying to get to their seats and had to wait for the Buckeyes to walk through. It's not a planned thing where we line up just to intimidate the opposing team. It's just a simple matter of two paths that must cross each other. Once the team goes through they remove the barricade and the fans continue on to their seats.

I was there that night and I didn't see anything remotely resembling what Jenkins says transpired. I often get caught at this location as teams make their way to or from the field. And in all my years of following Penn State football and going through this gate I can honestly say I've never, ever, seen anything like Jenkins describes. The fans are always very curtious in waiting patiently. Sometimes they even offer applause out of respect for these great warriors going to do battle. So yeah, I'm calling B.S. and saying Malcolm Jenkins is fucking lying.

I apologize for the language, but when I read this article it really burnt me up. It angers me because one it paints Penn State fans in a poor light and two it is just not true. So whatever Jenkins' motivation is, whether to anger his fans or fire up his team, they are ingenuine and disgraceful.

no need to apologize...
we could make this blog like Dr. Wattley's dentist office from Seinfeld...adults only, we could leave some playboys out and let the expletives fly!

I was sitting behind the OSU band
and never saw any bags of urine flying either.

Malcolm in the Middle
Maybe Malcolm was just making those up.  He probably draws his conclusions from actions of the classless Ohio State fans.  Malcolm thinks that since OSU fans spit and swear at the opposing team, then all fans must do the same.

Flying Feces
(what a great subject line) Would someone mind filling me in on this? I've heard about this and something about a cooler, but I never really got to the bottom of it.

Haha
I was joking but I too heard a rumor about it on the internet. Honestly would it surprise anyone if it was true?

histeria
I agree, it seems like they are maybe over preparing, using secret code bracelets, dodging spit and bags of urine, I think they are going to be more freaked out than need be.

Heh
They don't know what to expect. People throwing urine, caged lions ready to attack. They're acting like gladiators first walking into the coliseum. The Buckeyes should just hope that 110,000 thousand rowdy, possibly drunk Pennsylvania don't give the thumbs down signal informing mighty warriors Connor, Lee and Evans know that they wish the Buckeyes to be sacrificed to the football gods. The blood of Tosu tastes sweet to the Gods! Be afraid, Buckeyes, be very afraid!

OSU fans
In 2005 I witnessed several OSU fans involved in a gang bang with a goat wearing a sweater vest.

Then they sacrificed it.

This story is just as true as Mr. Jenkins tale, what an idiot.

our fans
I wasn't at the stadium to see the OSU team come in. I was downtown prior to the game and was never more ashamed of our fans--primarily students--than I was that day. Students standing on an apartment balcony above us were hurling a constant barrage of F-bombs at OSU fans below. I saw a couple of students--okay, they might not have been students, but they were certainly the right age--go right up into the face of a man and woman wearing OSU gear and who were, I'd guess, in their 60s, cursing and screaming at them. This older couple looked visibly frightened. I wrote letters to the editors of both the Collegian and the Centre Daily Times expressing my dismay. I don't mind good-natured ribbing, especially if the other side is dishing it out, too. But this went far beyond the pale.

I am pleased to say that I didn't see any of this at the Notre Dame game this year--the game where I most feared I would see it--nor at any others. I actually saw and heard a student tell a pair of Wisconsin fans leaving Beaver Stadium after that game, "Tough loss, hang in there." That made me feel good.

As for Jenkins, who knows. Two years have gone by, and maybe in the wake of that loss his mind has made up memories of things that didn't really happen. My wife sometimes tells me that my memory is poor...like when I forget something she told me five minutes earlier. Do I really doubt that it could have happened? Not after what I saw downtown or in the parking lots that day. But I'm glad to hear, Mike, that you were there and didn't see or hear anything like that. It's not what I expect from our fans, and, if it did happen at all, it was clearly an isolated incident unlike what Jenkins has described. Thanks for setting the record straight.

actually....
one of the resident physicians i work with actually walked that gauntlet & described very similar situation (traveled many times to assit the team physicians) - though he seemed to describe the torrent of trash and fluids being thrown from above.  did say it was a nasty and intimidating environment unlike he'd seen on any other occasion.

again, second hand, but i have no reason to disbelieve him.

I know this is completely unrelated...
...but where was the FOS article that described why the secondary is playing soft zone coverage?  I have premium and have been looking for it, but can't seem to find it.

Not an article
It was mentioned in the TAP message board. You have to dig back a few weeks.

After the game...
Can't speak for before the game, but after the game I was among the fans along the ropes as the Buckeyes trudged off the field from the field to the locker room.  It didn't happen then either.

This just in:  Malcom Jenkins is still a liar.

WE ARE...
