Kenny Tate to PSU?

Rumormongering is what the internets are for! BSD has been informed that Maryland wide receiver Kenny Tate may be a silent verbal to Penn State. I can't back this up 100%, but let's say a friend of a friend who is close to the program says the talk around Lasch building is that Tate is coming to PSU. Take it for what it's worth and don't believe it 100% until you hear it straight from Tate's mouth.

Tate fits the big 6'4" 210 lb wide receiver mold Penn State has been trying to fill for years. How scary would it be in 2009 to have Tate, Bell, and Moye all on the field at the same time?

Penn State is likely looking to bring in 2 wide receiver recruits this year, so they may be keeping Tate's verbal quiet to not scare off other recruits. Or they may be waiting until Tate's official visit sometime in December or January to make more of a media splash. I honestly have no reason to trust this information right now, but we'll see if it turns out to be true.

Rivals 2009 Top 100
I see the Rivals 2009 Top 100 is out.  Anyone heard anything positive about 2009 recuiting?  I guess we are all expecting some type of change in 2009 with the coaching staff so that could be an interesting class.

Any word on Galen Hall retiring?  It was mentioned a week or so ago on this blog.

If he does
He'll be replaced by...

AAGHH! THE HORROR!

Galen Hall
I posted that thread, based on what I read on firejaypa.com.  Haven't seen anything else on it.  Now they are reporting that the state of NJ isn't going to pay for the addition to RU's stadium (I live in NJ and am happy not to fund that thing), which will piss off Schiano, making him available.
Read it here:  http://www.firejaypa.com/?q=node/1307
Who really knows?

Whoever the new coach is
I do not want him to be a member of the current staff. Keep LJ and Vanderlinden but fire everybody else.

Take your soft zone and shove it where the sun don't shine Bradley!

Bradley
Yeah let's throw the guy under the bus despite the fact that the defense has carried this team for the last 3-4 years. You really think it's all Bradley that calls for the soft zone? At least he'll hold himself accountable, speak with the media, not blame the refs, etc. when the D struggles.

Then
who are you suggesting calls these plays? I think Bradley's success is based on the fact he motivates the players very well. But Bradley's the one who has the corners playing so far off the line isn't he? Bradley's the one who let Brady Quinn and Todd Boeckman tear us to bits.

Is there some premium article on FOS that explains who's calling this crap. I don't accept King playing injured as an excuse, not with A.J. Wallace and Lydell Sargeant as backups.

Maybe I'm too harsh but I haven't read anything that said Joe is calling for the soft zone.

Recruiting ability
The number one thing I give Scrap lots of credit for.

Let me ask you this...
Were you calling for Bradley to be fired in 2004, 2005, 2006? Of course Paterno has a hand in the soft zone. And did you see Lydell Sargent play CB this year? An injured King is much better than a healty Lydell.

Also
You say keep LJ, yet the D-Line put zero pressure on  Boeckman.

Keep LJ
We lost some depth on the front. I think Hayes and Odrick were bigger losses than we thought. Of course we keep LJ. Tamba Hali, Michael Haynes, Courtney Brown, Jimmy Kennedy. Of course we keep LJ.

Progression..
LJ to D Coordinator
McQueary to O Coordinator
Bradley to Head Coach

Sounds better

Jay Paterno, Head Coach, Penn State Nittany Lions.

Let me ask you this
Have you read any non-premium articles that say anything about Joe calling for the soft zone or is that just an assumption? I haven't but it wouldn't surprise me. Joe is stubborn to a fault. I don't know if Bradley is too. Last year, it appeared that somebody (Bradley, I assume) learned from the ND debacle as we played mostly bump and run for the rest of the year. But somebody forgot something in time for Boeckman and Ohio State.

by MarkoMancuso on Nov 29, 2007 3:42 PM EST to parent up   0 recs

Have you considered...
That maybe the secondary players couldn't handle a bump and run? You just said that Bradley learned from the soft zone last year. So clearly he is willing to go away from it. King was injured, Wallace was inexperienced, and Sargeant was lousy. Plus, the safeties were horrible. You bring up Ohio State, well that's the game Tony Davis had to miss and Mark Rubin came in.

I'm not saying I want Bradley as the next coach, I'm just saying I don't think he deserves a "don't let the door hit you on the way out" attitude.

And, to answer your question, no I haven't read that anywhere else.

Get up State.

Yes
I have considered that. I was a bit over the top.

Ah who am I kidding? Almost everybody on this team deserves some blame! GOD! This team has driven me NUTS! No more arguing with  you speedo.

I think I just had a mental breakdown. wersfdasgah

Why post this Mike?
You say you don't have any reason to trust this information, yet you post it anyway?

Reason
I guess I shouldn't have said "no reason to trust" this information. It seems credible to me or else I wouldn't have run it. But it's entirely possible I'm being lied to, so take it for what it's worth. It's just a rumor at this point, but this is a blog and rumors are open for discussion.

LMAO
Ahh, The dreaded "slient verbal". If he's a silent verbal to PSU, then I'm guessing he winds up at scUM, or Va Tech, or USC!

by Jaydud on Nov 29, 2007 3:05 PM EST   0 recs

tate
i don't know.  bell has been extremely poor in his route execution.  as in way off.  as in running the wrong route.

by psudrozz on Nov 29, 2007 3:06 PM EST   0 recs

Yeah
He ran the wrong route on one play against Illinois. Then the next week against Iowa he dropped what looked to be an easy TD pass. I don't really know what to think of him just yet.

I don't know how....
to make a diary or whatever, but Joe says that he wants to coach 2-5 more years, that PSU will play for the NC next year, and here is what he makes!

$512,000

I hope everyone
that pressed and pressed this salary issue is happy. Personally I knew(just a hunch)that the man was paid well below the Saban's and the Weis's of the college football world. Now that everyone knows please...STFU!(not directed to any of the people on this blog, but to the media assholes)

It won't mean squat

It won't mean squat if we are only throwing sideline patterns and not downfield over the middle.

DING DING
Hey Tate you like drag routes?

by MarkoMancuso on Nov 29, 2007 11:02 PM EST to parent up   0 recs

Don't worry
Mr. Tate, Terrelle Pryor will get you the ball!

by Nick7 on Nov 30, 2007 7:36 AM EST to parent up   0 recs

Man........
does that have a nice ring to it.  How much fun was it to watch Michael Robinson.  Watching Pryor, one would hope, would be just unreal.  If we get Pryor and he is as good as advertised AND he plays from the get go.......you may as well pencil Paterno in for 3 more years.
