Pryor Making Early Trip to Happy Valley

Jeannette High School's basketball team defeated District 10 champion North East 75-66 late last night to earn a trip to the PIAA Championships at Penn State.  The AA game is scheduled for Saturday at 2pm at the Bryce Jordan Center, against Strawberry Mansion of the Philly Public C League.  Pryor will get at least a brief look at campus with his team this weekend.  Those in the area may wish to check out the game.

Visit
I bet he turns this into an official visit and we'll hear a decision from him in the next week or two.

Visit?
I don't think this will be an official visit.  The students won't be on campus and he mentioned previously that he wants to make his official visit when all students are there and the campus is like it is on a normal day/weekend.

Good Point
But I bet he finds time for the coaches while he's there. Joe and Bradley aren't going to let him come on campus and leave without getting some face time.

Violation?
Does anyone have any idea if this would be a violation under the new NCAA rules?

The NCAA now excludes coaches from meeting with recruits during the spring evaluation period.  If Pryor does not declare this an offical visit, wouldn't any contact with the coaches be now in violation of the new NCAA rule?

Violation
It would be a violation if PSU initiated the conversation meeting.  However, if TP stops by Bradley or JoePa's office to say, that is ok.

I do not believe that the PSU coaches are going to the game, just to be safe.

The key to the whole situation is...TP has to initiate the conversation/meeting.

Seeing as how this recruitment is gaining national attention, PSU is better to play it safe than to risk a possible violation.

Violation
I could be wrong, but I thought the intent of the "bump into" rule was to eliminate ALL contact during the Spring evals.

Of course, not all schools play by the same rules.

Violations
I believe we cannot initiate off campus contact during this period. But once he steps on our campus he's fair game.

Let's hope not.
He'll probably be spending Friday night with his team in preparation, and Saturday night probably celebrating (the team they beat in the semis handled Strawberry Mansion earlier in the season).  I can't imagine there will be much time for sightseeing or meeting players before Sunday, and he's not likely to a good feel for anything in that short a window.

Jeannette wins 76-72 (OT)

Pryor 7-17 FG, 9-19 FT for 23 points.  Sounds like he had problems from the free throw line that gave Strawberry Mansion some late hope.  Anyone go to the game?

seen it on tv
they tossed Pryor's shot about 5 times. The refs kinda f'ed up the game in the 2nd half to be honest, Mansion had a kid down low that commanded the paint... somehow he got into foul trouble and it opened up the lane, a few times he had all ball but...oh well

Pryor found out early those Philly boys aren't like those corny western pa basketball teams, they didn't care he was Terrelle Pryor at all lol.

Violations
Ok I just looked it up. This is what is known as a "Quiet Period". The definition of quiet period is as follows:

It is permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only on the member institution's campus.

So once he's on campus we can make all the contact with him we want.
