Who Let The Dogs Out?
Things were getting a little crowded in the doghouse, so Joe let the dogs out.
Ok, so they're not technically out of the doghouse yet. I'm sure these guys will be running a lot of sprints and steps in the coming months. And they'll probably start at the bottom of the depth chart come August. But it's good news to have them back.
Timmons is sorely needed at cornerback to give us some depth. Bowman is quite possibly one of the three best linebackers on the team. Though we have plenty of NFL caliber defensive tackles, Baker was starting ahead of all of them last year. The emergence of Andrew Szczerba make Quarless expendable, but imagine the things we could do in a double tight end set down near the goal line with him in the lineup. I just hope that these guys all realize this is their last chance and act accordingly.
Notice the name Phil Taylor is conspicuously missing from the list.

York Record Inaccurate - Players Still Suspended
---------------------------------------------
No change in status of PSU suspended players

Penn State spokesman Guido D'Elia shot down a York Daily Record story that Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has lifted the suspensions of four players -- defensive tackle Chris Baker, linebacker Navorro Bowman, tight end Andrew Quarless and defensive back Knowledge Timmons.
"There is no change in the status of those players, they are still suspended,'' D'Elia told the Patriot-News Friday afternoon.
The Record quoted Timmons as saying the players were reinstated Wednesday night. PSU spokesman Jeff Nelson said Friday morning that he had no definitive update on the status of the four players.
According to a PSU source, Paterno held a players meeting earlier this week and invited the four players -- Baker, Bowman, Timmons and Quarless -- and told them they will not return to the team until their off-field issues are cleared up and their academic deficiencies improve.
Baker, Bowman and Timmons are still facing charges for their roles in 2007 fights -- Baker is facing charges in two fights, Bowman and Timmons one each -- and Quarless was charged with DUI by State College police in March.
A fifth PSU player, defensive tackle Phil Taylor, also remains suspended.

Suspended or not...
I would hope so, but sometimes people always talk about people coming back out-of-shape after suspensions, etc. Obviously they can't take advantage of the trainers in Holuba Hall, but between the IM building (although I doubt they'd want to mingle in with freshmen), the White Bldg. and newly designed Rec Hall, I would imagine they could still be keeping in top shape if they had the drive to do so.
