Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

So Long Chris Bell

And don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. The Daily Collegian has the details.

Former football player Chris Bell was arrested last night after Penn State Police said he threatened another student with an 8-inch blade during a dispute that yielded no injuries in Pollock Dining Commons.

The former Nittany Lion wide receiver is facing charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and harassment.

Interesting that the Collegian is already calling Bell a "former" football player. I think it's safe to say Chris Bell will not be rejoining the team. In fact I think it's safe to say he will probably never set foot on the Penn State campus again. Fight On State identifies the student/teammate/victim as freshman defensive end Devon Still.

It's pretty clear that Chris Bell is a troubled individual and BSD hopes he gets the help he needs. From the moment he stepped on campus there was talk about the five star recruit dogging it through practice and then complaining that he wasn't getting enough playing time. When he got in the game he either ran half speed through his route or ran the wrong route completely. He had lousy hands as he we all saw in his dropped touchdown catch against Wisconsin.

Of course his off the field issues are becoming legendary. He played Chris "Superfly" Bell in the HUB fight reportedly jumping off of tables and kicking people. He got suspended for the spring for academic issues. And now he pulls a knife on a teammate in the dining commons in front of probably a hundred witnesses.

Call me crazy, but I think we'll be better off with this guy off the team. It's time for the coaches and leaders of this team to start cutting out the cancer (no pun intended). The bad news is this leaves a gaping hole on the depth chart for 2009 after Williams, Butler, and Norwood graduate. The good news is we can point out that gaping hole to potential recruits and hopefully get some good ones.

i hate the fact that "wasted talent" around the team is almost becoming cliche.

or maybe i am being too harsh before my morning coffee.

On his current path...
those who are Chris Bell fans should be able to follow his career. It is apparent he will be playing for Rockview State Penn before too long.

It is a shame that these recent individuals do not understand the opportunity they have been GIVEN based on their athletic ability and skills.

Settle it on the field!

Rockview Penn
Though he will most likely be gone....I doubt Still will press charges as it does not appear he was injured in the altercation.  Even if the DA does prosecute the case, all of Bell's charges at this point will garnish probation.   No Rockview in site.
I thought only safeties played 15 yards off the ball?

8 inch blade
Come on guys!  Don't you remember going to East Halls dining hall, eating with your friends, having fun, joking around, then pulling out an 8 inch blade when someone made you mad?  And yelling about the other guns and knives in your room? And being physically restrained by your coaches?

Yeah, you know. Just normal college kid stuff.

Its not like he shot him or anything.

Gosh! You guys are just overreacting!

Go State Pen!

By the way, why was a football player who was off the team still eating in the football player dining hall?

Are any football players helping old ladies across the street or volunteering at homeless shelters or something? I could really use a Penn State Football Player story that does not end in "in lieu of $50,000.00 bail."

Pollock
Pollock Dining Commons - the football players eat in one smaller room of the dining hall, while the general student body eats in the other three rooms of the dining hall.

At least that was the way it was when I worked there, but then that was 20 years ago.

Bell mishaps
I think it was a fumble against Illinois, a dropped touchdown pass against Iowa and a triple homicide in the Alamo Bowl.

The Knife
The police report said that it was an Eight Inch Chef's knife. Which is a pretty big knife. If you carry one of those around you're either a chef or a serial killer.

I don't think Chris Bell cooks.

Yeah
There's something messed up with this guy. Dude needs to talk to someone. Oh, and Chris, when you talk to someone, remember not to point a large knife at them. People don't like having knives pointed at them.

Disgraceful
At what point will the athletic department let myself and all the other frustrated and near bankrupt members of the NLC have a piece of these ungrateful shits?  To think how much money I dish out every year for this kind of behavior and embarassment is really nauseating....if the wheels weren't off before, they sure are now

by Freasus on Apr 8, 2008 2:48 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'm not sure that the wheels are off yet,
but the boyz in the hood got the shit up on blocks and are about ready to rip the wheels off.

And you're right about the near bankrupt NLC members.  Like my cousin who's a junior at University Park told me, my being a NLC member makes me (and every other NLC member) a shareholder in all this.  And I don't like the direction this is going right now.  The only bright spot (if there is one in this fiasco) is that Bell was already suspended from the team and not practicing.  The way that punk ass bitch complains about not getting enough time on the field, do you really think he had the heart or smarts to practice harder to earn himself back into the coaches good graces.  Bragging to the cops about other weapons I think answers that question.

Keepin it real
I am sure there will be other reports of bad behavior by Mr. Bell that will trickle out to further disgrace this program in the future.

Dude was bragging about his gun and other knives???

If he was that stupid to bring a weapon on campus and then brag about other weapons in a crowded place...dude ain't that smart.

Strike First...Strike Hard...No Mercy

Yeah, it's real aw ight, dog.
These walls in my cell is real and shit.  I can't walk through 'em and git out and go gits my other knifes and gun.

And I've come up with another one with this keepin
it real bullshit:

Keepin it real must be short for "keepin it real stupid."

Bell
doesn't deserve to go to Penn State. That really pisses me off that some dumbass like him does (or used to) go to the same college as me

2 things...
Firstly let me express my sorrow over the fact that that caption was incorrect.  If only number 14 really was the back up last year...  Oh what could have been, not to mention how prepared would our starting QB be this fall, wow!

Secondly i'm disappointed that you didn't finish off the opening line of the post Mike.  It should be:

And don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, *EDIT: cuz i dont want ass prints on my nice/new door!

=)
