There's a lot of uneasiness with the fans after that lackluster performance against Illinois last weekend. Senior linebacker Tim Shaw may have provided the defining quote of the season.

"I just find myself just sitting in the locker room before practice, and Tuesdays are our tough days," Shaw said. "And you look around, and guys aren't excited about going out for these Tuesday practices. And you think, 'I've only got a couple of these left.' "

"It forces you to look back and reflect on what you've been through," he continued, before making one significant statement. "I'm not going to let this Tuesday be another Tuesday."

Indeed. That's what I like to hear.

Joe Paterno described the effort by the Lions last week as "L-O-U-S-Y". The same could also be said for Purdue's pass defense.

After the Illinois game, I said the Penn State offense has no leaders. Well, Butler, Williams, and Golden took it upon themselves to energize their teammates in practice.

Ever wonder how much money Penn State brings in during a home football game? How about a net of four Miiill-yun dollars per game. Now you know.

Levi Brown accidently let it slip that he had arthroscopic knee surgery a few weeks ago during the week of the Minnesota game.

Ray Fittipaldo has his weekly Q&A and his weekly chat with the readers. The most interesting part?

TonyO: Cheer up Ray. JoePa HAS to retire one of these years. Then we won't have to put up with this crap!

Ray Fittipaldo: It looks like they're going to make him hang it up after next year, the final year of his contract, whether he wants to go or not. At least that's the word from people around the program. I'll believe it when I see it. I still think he coaches until he's 100.

Could this be true? Could JoePa be done after 2007?
