Game Story

I'm not surprised the Lions dropped this game to Seton Hall. When I looked at the schedule at the beginning of the year I figured this would be a loss. But they way in which we lost is what pisses me off.

I was watching the game on ESPN gametracker as I did some blogging and watching television. The Lions jumped out to an early lead on a quick start by Geary Claxton, playing without the bulky brace on his hand for the first time this year. The Lions led by six at the half and by as much as 12 with 10 minutes to go in the game. Then they just stopped scoring.

Seton Hall outscored the Lions 21-11 over the final eight minutes to win the game.

Breaking It Down

This team just doesn't know how to win. You can't have eight minute stretches of every game where you just don't score. And you can't commit 21 turnovers a game if you want to win.

Geary Claxton had a monster game with 29 points and 11 rebounds for his second straight double-double. Unfortunately, he got no help. Mooch chipped in 12 points on 83% shooting. After Mooch, Milos Bogetic was the next high scorer with 9. When Milos is our third leading scorer, we're in trouble.

Jamelle Cornly didn't start due to a mid foot sprain, but he did play over 30 minutes. Brandon Hassell only played 10 minutes. I'm not sure what happened there.

Next Up

Even though I expected them to lose this one, it's a bad loss. They had the game in hand and they blew it. Extra laps for everyone this week. The Lions have four non-conference games left before they start Big Ten play. If they want to keep March dreams alive, they better win all four. The first test is Long Island on Wednesday at the Jordan Center.
