Let the Politics Begin

Man, what a crappy system the BCS is. Where are all the people from last year that were slapping themselves on the back for the BCS system that paired up undefeated USC versus undefeated Texas? What say you now?

The saddest part of this whole spectacle is how the head coaches are paraded out in front of cameras and asked to plead their case for the voters as if they were running for office. Listen to Urban Meyer's sob story after his Gators beat the Arkansas Razorbacks to win the SEC championship game last night.

We're going to tell a group of young men who just went 12-1 with the most difficult schedule against six ranked opponents that they don't have a chance to go play for a national championship. I'm going to need help with that one.

Yeah. If only Joe Paterno had your problems this morning. I haven't heard anything from Lloyd Carr yet, but I understand he was interviewed on ESPN during the WV-Rutgers game last night. I'm sure we'll see a press conference or statement later today.

We all know the arguments. Michigan deserves to go because their only loss was to Ohio State. They beat down Notre Dame and beat Wisconsin and Penn State comfortably. But other than that they beat a lot of weak competition.

For Florida, they played a tough schedule against six ranked opponents in the supposedly toughest conference. They escaped with one loss to Auburn, but they barely got by several teams including Vanderbilt.

I honestly don't know who deserves to be #2. But I do know one thing. The BCS blows.
