Recruit Number 12

On the heels of landing their eleventh recruit over the weekend, the Nittany Lions have landed Andrew Szczerba, a tight end/defensive end from Salesianum High School in Wilmington, Delaware.

Szczerba tries on a Notre Dame uniform and decides it makes him look like a fairy.

This guy is another relative unknown.  Rivals and Scout rate him a three star prospect.  Every recruiting site agrees he is 6'6" tall, but he weight ranges from 220 lbs. to 250 lbs. His 40 times are pretty close around 4.8 or 4.9.  Here is what his coach has to say about him.

"He is a no doubt blue chip type of player. He is outstanding on both sides of the ball. He is unblockable as a defensive end, and has the type of frame that is appealing to a lot of schools." Salesianum head Coach William DiNardo

Andrew passed up on offers from Duke, Iowa, Maryland, Syracuse, Virginia, and West Virginia.  Michigan was also reportedly expressing interest.

Like Barham, Szczerba is sparking grumbling in the message boards about Penn State's recruiting class.  Soon I will post my "State of Recruiting" and give you my thoughts.
