Roll `Bama Roll set up a college pick `em game this year. I was thinking it would be fun to enter as a blog. I'll put up my picks and you guys can offer suggestions. (I'll keep the prizes of course!) If I'm vastly outnumbered or someone gives a persuading argument I'll change the pick. Picks have to be submitted before midnight the day before the game so we have until Friday night this week. Here are the games for this week with my picks in bold.
North Texas at Texas
Northern Illinois at Ohio State
California at Tennessee
Marshall at West Virginia
Hawaii at Alabama
Southern Miss at Florida
UAB at Oklahoma
Washington State at Auburn
Notre Dame at Georgia Tech (Played in Atlanta)
Louisiana-Lafayette at LSU
USC at Arkansas
Florida State at Miami
The two hardest for me to pick were Cal at Tennessee and Florida State at Miami. I went with Tennessee because they are the home team and I don't think Cal is as good as everyone thinks they are. Plus I have an east coast bias. I admit it. With Florida State I have a tough time believing a team that went 7-5 last year and lost a ton of talent to the NFL is going to be a top ten team. At the same time, Miami has half their team suspended, a new coaching staff, and pretty much fell apart at the end of the year last year. So I went with Miami based on home field and the past history of FSU coming up just short in this series. Tell me if I'm crazy.
[update]At the suggestion of our Anonymous Hero, I have changed my pick for the FSU-Miami game to FSU.
