A.J. Alexander Decommits

Everyone is buzzing about A.J. Alexander this morning. The free message board lurkers are reading the tea leaves of the premium board headlines trying to figure out what is going on with the five star Altoona wide receiver. Fear not! BSD has the story via the Altoona Mirror.

A.J. Alexander has had a change of heart, putting himself back in the middle of the recruiting game.

The Altoona Area High School standout has backed out of his verbal commitment to Florida State, citing a desire to test the waters a little more before making his college choice.

``There are some schools I like I hadn't seen yet when I decided,'' Alexander, who committed to FSU in May, told the Mirror late Thursday night.

Alexander is considered the most heavily recruited player in Altoona history, fielding offers from dozens of major programs around the country. The Seminoles remain in the hunt for his services, but now four other schools are back in the mix, including Penn State.

Also in the running are Tennessee, West Virginia and Virginia Tech, and Alexander plans to visit all five schools before making another commitment.

Obviously this is good news for Penn State. Although he lists FSU in his top five, I have to think they are no longer the leader for his services. This puts Penn State in an excellent position.

My gut tells me this kid is going to be wearing the Blue and White before it's all said and done.

‘‘I love Penn State,’’ Alexander said. ‘‘I’ve been up there so many times, that’s definitely a school that will probably make it to the end.’’
