Penn State Lands Another Running Back

It's shaping up to be a great recruiting weekend for the Nittany Lions. We've broken out the siren twice in two days. After scoring a verbal commitment from Michigan offensive tackle Deon'tae Pannell yesterday, tonight they got a verbal commit from Ohio running back Michael Shaw.

Shaw describes himself as a skat back. He stands 6'0" tall and weighs 186 lbs and boasts a 4.4 40 time. As a junior he rushed for 975 yards and scored 21 touchdowns on 180 carries. He also caught 10 passes for 200 yards.

Both recruiting services rank him a four star prospect. Rivals ranks him the #12 running back in the nation while Scout ranks him #25.

This. Is a relief. We need running backs in a huge way in this recruiting class. Now with Shaw and Brandon Beachum we have two of them. Better still, we pulled both of them out of Buckeye country. Score a major victory for Jay Paterno. Yes, you heard that right. Despite his bungling ways, Jay Paterno has delivered Mike Zordich, Brandon Beachum, and now Michael Shaw from the Buckeye State.

I guess now is as good a time as any to start the tired old "Thunder and Lightning" cliche. Look for Shaw to play the "lightning" part to Beachum's "thunder". They should make a fantastic duo to watch over the next four years.

Welcome to Penn State, Michael.
