Joe Paterno Arrested

Well, it looks like Joe Paterno will not be on the sideline or the press box this year after getting arrested.

Joseph Paterno, of 1245 Palm Bay Rd., was charged with trafficking cocaine after Palm Bay police spotted something being tossed out of the passenger-side window of a car he was traveling in on Monday, reports show. Paterno is being held on a $50,000 bond at the Brevard County Jail in Sharpes, reports show.

A Palm Bay police officer made the arrest about 1 a.m. after spotting a white car running through a red light at the intersection of Emerson Drive and Minton Road, reports show.

The officer put on his lights to make a traffic stop but saw what he reported as a medium-size bag being tossed out of the car.

Both the driver and Paterno, who was the passenger, denied throwing the object out of the window, reports show. Officers tested the bag and discovered it held 99 grams of powdered cocaine, reports show.

A drug-sniffing dog also led officers to the center console near the area where Paterno sat, reports show. Paterno was handcuffed and taken to jail.

Say it ain't so, Joe! How many Fulmer cup points is this? You think you know a guy.
