Late Night Nitt Picks

Score one for the little guys. I love it when a blogger lands a big interview. Kudos to the SBNation Buffalo Bills blog Buffalo Rumblings. He landed an exclusive interview with Paul Posluszny. Go check it out.

Phil Grosz from Blue-White Illustrated offers a wealth of insider info on the first week of practice. It's loaded with good news, but take it with grain of salt. You won't find a more optimistic PSU journalist out there.

SMQ is going through Big Ten Week. If you read nothing else, read his comparison of Penn State and Iowa. Other interesting reading includes a look at Purdue and Troy Smith's effect on the Ohio State offense. Stay tuned for his binding predictions soon to be posted. If you're like me, make sure you close the door, take the phone off the hook, and get your dictionary before reading SMQ. I usually have to read each post two or three times before it completely sinks in.

Now, you all know how much I love Bret Bielema </sarcasm&gt. He certainly didn't earn any points with me when he instructed Wisconsin cornerback Jack Ikegwuonu to not answer questions about his arrest for burglarizing an apartment back in November.

Reporters were warned by Bielema not to ask questions about Ikegwuonu's off-field problems. He has a hearing set for Aug. 24 in Sycamore, Ill., to deal with a motion filed by his attorney to suppress statements made by Ikegwuonu to police, on the grounds he was not read his Miranda rights.

Bielema told Ikegwuonu to answer "no comment," to a first question about his case, then walk away if there was a second question.

What's the matter, Bret? Afraid you might lose your best player on defense? Mark this down: Unless the law locks him up, Ikegwounu will not miss a single down of football because of this. Disgrace, thy name is Bielema.
