Priceless - Penn State Lands #13

This afternoon it was confirmed that Penn State landed it's 13th verbal commitment for the class of 2008 when A.J. Price commited to Joe Paterno during his official visit to Penn State.

"I actually committed to Penn State this morning," Price said. "It was one of those things were you meet Joe Paterno and he tells you that he wants you on his team, you can't say no."

Price visited with his mom and was hosted by current Penn State wide receiver Deon Butler.

"We got up to Penn State Friday around 3 o'clock," Price said. "My host was Deon Butler and we hung out a lot all weekend. He was a really cool guy.

"I met Coach Joe Paterno in the football building just as all the coaches were walking in," Price added. "It was kind of funny because the first thing he did was say hello to me, but walked right past and was talking with my mom. They had spoken on the phone before so I guess he had more to say."

The athletic wide receiver/defensive back stands 6'4" tall and weighs 175 lbs. Once again we see the trend of Penn State going after tall wide receivers. Price turned down other offers from Michigan, Virginia, Duke, and North Carolina. He hopes to major in History and Religious studies and sounds like a really good kid.

And look! Youtuberation!

So far I like what I see. A nice combination of size and speed and a great set of hands. I like how he shows the ability to go up the ladder and pull down those jump balls. That's something we've never had at Penn State before. Not sure about the 2.3 GPA and 930 SAT though.

I projected two or three wide receivers in this class. So far Price is the first. Given that we majorly whiffed on Deion Walker a few weeks ago this is a major pick up for Penn State. We probably have three more scholarships to give out, and I'm still hoping we take one more wide receiver. The major targets left on the board are D.J. Woods, Randall Dunn and Kenny Tate.
