Behind the three-headed scoring monster of Tyra Grant, Alex Bentley, and Julia Trogele, the Lady Lions took down Wisconsin 54-43 Thursday in Madison.
Penn State took advantage of Wisconsin's poor 28% shooting effort and a strong, 14 point second half by Grant to pull out a fifth consecutive Big Ten win. Trogele chipped in 12 points on 4-6 shooting, including 3-5 from beyond the arc, and Bentley poured in 12 more.
Only two other players tallied for the Lady Lions, however. Nikki Greene had a quiet night, posting a three point, six rebound performance. Janessa Wolff had a productive evening with six points and nine boards, but that was it for the Penn State.
The Lady Lions are now a solid second place in the conference, trailing only undefeated and No. 4 ranked Ohio State. However, on a night the Buckeyes barely escaped with a win over a 10-8, 2-6 Michigan squad and with a lot of time remaining in the conference season Penn State could still make a run at the conference title.
Next up is 11-7, 3-5 Illinois on Sunday at the Jordan Center for the Pink Zone game.
