Florida Gators Season In Review - Appalachian State

By week 11, Florida basically had nothing left to play for. Sitting at 6-4 they were out of contention for the SEC East title and staring down the barrel at a mediocre bowl game. Not exactly what they expected when they started the season ranked #4 in the country. But they put on a good face and gave it the old college try to give their seniors a fine sendoff against Appalachian State on senior day.

The Florida offense that had struggled all year let out all of their penned up frustration exploding for 547 yards and 48 points. Backup quarterback Jordan Reed accounted for four touchdowns, three rushing and one pass back to starting quarterback John Brantley from five yards out.

Florida also had 311 yards rushing despite missing Jeffrey Demps in the lineup. Chris Rainey led the team with 87 yards on six carries. Reed had 71 yards on a team high 11 carries. Mike Gillislee and Emmanuel Moody each had 56 yards.

The Gators nearly doubled up the Mountaineers in yardage holding them to just 274 yards of offense.

This game was basically nothing more than a payday blowout against a FCS team on senior day. Is any further analysis necessary? I think not.
