HUH? So, how's Boise State in the Big East sound to everyone? Stupid? Good, because it probably won't happen, but it's just another example of how ludicrous conference realignment can get.
Speaking of stupid. Actually, stupid may not be the right word. "Deeply troubling" is a little more accurate. I understand that big time college athletics are all about money, but any time a conference's television partner is advising them which teams to add, that's about the time we should pump the brakes and reevaluate exactly what we're doing here.
Okay, a third piece of realignment news, but this one's my favorite. I have to give BC's Gene DeFilippo a lot of credit, because BC blocking a potential UConn move to the ACC makes me laugh and feel tingly all over.
"We didn’t want them in,’’ he said. "It was a matter of turf. We wanted to be the New England team.’’
Because, as we all know, having perceived ownership of New England is of the utmost importance to athletic success.
That's quite unfortunate. It looks like Tennessee's lost QB Tyler Bray for the next couple weeks with a broken thumb. UT's struggled to get much going on the ground this year, and the loss of Bray AND star WR Justin Hunter will leave their offense... pretty much dead in the water barring something unforeseen. For those of you who enjoy gruesome theatre, Tennessee's next three games are LSU, at Alabama, and South Carolina.
OOOOO THIS IS FUN. There are no schools from the state of Florida in a Top 25 poll for the first time in 29 years. No one's getting screwed here either, as none of these teams deserve to be ranked.
