Week 9 is here and the competition to see which BSD blogger is the supreme overlord and master of B1G prognostication is heating up.  Last week we had a couple games trip all of us up (ok, most of us) but more went according to plan than not.  This week?  Not so much, there's more uncertainty if you're a believer in momentum and current results over the entire year's resume.

But before all the fun of Saturday we have a decent Thursday night game to get to.  The Virginia Cavaliers travel down south to Sun Life Stadium to take on the Miami Hurricanes. Al Golden's troops are coming off a 24-7 upset victory over #22 Georgia Tech.  If you can call a 3 touchdown margin a simple "victory." It's more like a blindsided beat down.  The game starts at 8:00 PM, and can be seen on ESPN.  As always we'll be here for open thread tomfoolery.

Stats, schedules, and analysis after the jump...

Last Week's Results

Last Week Wins Losses
BSD 3 2
Mike 4 1
Jeff 3 2
Tim 3 2
Galen 3 2
Peter 3 2
Kyle 3 2
Ben 3 2

Kudos, to Mike for being the only BSD Blogger with faith in Michigan State.  Mike somehow knew Keith Nichol was going to come down with that last second Hell Mary catch and make it in by 5 mm's (yes it was that small and yes I like the metric system - sue me).  For that he gets the reward of being the only blogger with a 4-1 record for the week, that and....

Standings

Total Wins Losses Win % Total Games
BSD 52 15 78 67
Jeff 54 13 81 67
Mike 53 14 79 67

Peter 51 16 76 67
Kyle 51 16 76 67
Ben 47 20 70 67

Mike has now skyrocketed his way past Tim and me to take 2nd place 1 game behind Jeff.  Suddenly that big lead Jeff started out with doesn't look so insurmountable.  Everything is so, so close, the person that takes a chance may jump 2 positions either way.

This week's games

Like I said there's a lot of doubt this week, Michigan State is coming off a emotional last-second thriller, will they have a letdown against a Nebraska team that's trying to make a name for themselves in the Big Ten?  Northwestern looks like an easy pick but Indiana did put up a fight against Iowa for a quarter and a half before throwing in the towel, will they pack it in for the year?  Speaking of packing it in, has Illinois given up?  I believe they have and feel pretty good about Penn State for the first time this season.

The picks

Peter Jeff Mike Kyle Ben Tim Galen BSD
Michigan State Michigan State Michigan State Nebraska Michigan State Michigan State Nebraska Michigan State
Northwestern Northwestern Northwestern Northwestern Northwestern Northwestern Northwestern Northwestern
Purdue Michigan Purdue Michigan Michigan Michigan Michigan Michigan
Penn State Penn State Penn State Penn State Penn State Penn State Penn State Penn State
Iowa Iowa Iowa Iowa Iowa Iowa Iowa Iowa
Wisconsin Wisconsin Wisconsin OSU Wisconsin Wisconsin Wisconsin Wisconsin

Kyle and I are not convinced about Michigan State and it concerns me that I'm agreeing with a guy that is A) in next to last place and B) took Ohio State over Wisconsin.  Oh, and looky here.... Mike pulls one out of his ass and he's swinging for the fences again by picking a surging Purdue over Michigan.  Can lightning strike twice?
