In the wake of a three-game losing skid which included losses to the likes of Lafayette and Duquesne, the growing concern/speculation over the yet to be filled football coaching vacancy, plus yesterday's *AHEM* 'scuffle' between Matt McGloin and Curtis Drake, desperate times have gotten even more desperate for Penn State fans looking for something positive to cling to. Well, look no further, because here comes 1-8 Mount St. Mary's to the rescue...or so, we'd like to think, at least. Seriously though, they are pretty bad, as in 296th in KenPom (out of 345 Division 1 basketball teams) bad.
The Mount's lone win? Against Hartford. Yes, that same Hartford team PSU (6-5) took care of in the season opener. Included amongst their losses are a 54-point thumping at the hands of Marquette, a 29-point stomping at the hands of Minnesota, and even an eight-point defeat at the hands of Ed DeChellis' Navy squad. They did however, push a Maryland team that is practically as bad as PSU to the brink before succumbing by merely three points at the end, so keep that in the back of your mind when PSU is locked in another tight one with a seemingly inferior opponent.
Tipoff is at 4:00 PM ET on BTN. If you don't get BTN, there's always the radio with Steve Jones and Dick Jerardi (Ch 117 on Sirius, Ch 191 on XM, 1450 AM in State College).
And as always with these kinds of threads: No porn, no trolling/racism/sexism/homophobia and the like, and no linking to illegal video steams of the game.
