The Tale
You could say the beginning of the end for Reeves' eventual commitment was when best friend and teammate Camren Williams committed in March. Since that day, Williams has been working on Reeves (along with many other recruits), trying to persuade him to join the Nittany Lions increasingly strong Class of 2012.
Having visited a few times in the past, Williams and Reeves made the trip this past weekend with a new visitor in tow, Armani's mother. Reeves made the call and became Penn State's 16th Class of 2012 commitment.
Outlook
Where to even begin. Reeves is the type of player that will see playing time almost immediately once he arrives at Penn State. With only four cornerbacks expected on the 2012 depth chart, one of whom, Alex Kenney, has admitted to preferring the offensive side of the ball, Reeves will have the chance for immediate impact.
There is a ton of film out there on Reeves, some on the offensive side of the ball (nice to know Reeves can play some wide receiver if needed) and some from some combines (this one at UConn). There you can see Reeves' quickness and ability to cut on a dime, something he'll need to do to keep up with the best receivers in the Big Ten. In addition, the video above shows Reeves' already great cover skills. This kid has it all.
Reeves came in a distant second to Noah Spence in our vote on Friday as to who is Penn State's top target. With all due respect to our readers, I must disagree with their voting. The secondary will be paper thin by 2012 and Reeves is the kind of player that can be plugged in immediately. Give him another year of growth plus a solid collegiate weight training regimen and he will be a corner to be reckoned with in the very near future. In fact, he even reminds some of another four-star defensive back from an out-of-state school that Penn State recruited a few years ago.
Welcome to Penn State, Armani. Let the "Suit Up!" jokes begin.
