National Recap: Week Four, or "Don't Kill Me, Vontaze"

I've been looking at that picture for about two days now, and it hasn't stopped being totally metal.

Games of Note

Game of the Week: (23) USC Trojans @ Arizona St. Sun Devils

Final Score: ASU 43 - USC 22

This actually wasn't a great game, but I had to put it as the game of the week otherwise Vontaze Burfict said he'd kill me. Egads, that man is terrifying.

Actual Game of the Week: (7) Oklahoma St. Cowboys @ (8) Texas A&M Aggies

Final Score: OSU 30 - TAMU 29

A&M jumped all over Oklahoma State early, but as with any Mike Sherman coached team, the Aggies wilted. The Cowboys turned a 20-3 halftime deficit into a 30-20 lead before hanging on late. The loss effectively eliminates the Aggies from winning the Big 12 in their final season in the conference unless they can beat Oklahoma. As for the Pokes, they're going to be favored in every game they play leading up to what should be an absolute monster of a game against the Sooners. BEDLAM.

(2) LSU Tigers @ (16) West Virginia Mountaineers

Final Score: LSU 47 - WVU 21

LSU is like a boa constrictor. The more you struggle, the tighter their grip gets. Without an effective running game, West Virginia simply didn't have a chance. The game between LSU and Alabama is effectively a national semifinal, barring something unforeseen happening.

(14) Arkansas Razorbacks @ (3) Alabama Crimson Tide

Final Score: Bama 38 - Pigs 14

This was basically the same game as LSU/WVU. Too much defense for Arkansas to overcome without a good running game.

(11) Florida St. Seminoles @ (21) Clemson Tigers

Final Score: CU 35 - FSU 30

Clemson won a big game that they were favored to win. I have now officially seen everything.

North Carolina Tar Heels @ (25)Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Final Score: GT 35 - UNC 28

North Carolina came back from a two touchdown deficit, only to commit an illegal shift penalty at the end of the game that ran out the remaining game clock. Not cool, man.

Kansas St. Wildcats @ Miami Hurricanes

Final Score: KSU 28 - UM 24

This was the final series of the game. An exercise in frustration.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish @ Pittsburgh Panthers

Final Score: ND 15 - Pitt 12

This game was terrible. Be glad you missed it.

Toledo Rockets @ Syracuse Orange

Final Score: SU 33 - UT 30 (OT)

Upset City

Temple Owls @ Maryland Terrapins

Final Score: Temple 38 - Maryland 7

I'm not entirely sure this is an upset, but this is the first time Temple has ever beat an ACC team. It's been said a lot around here in the past 48 hours, but our win in Philly is looking a lot better than it did a week ago.

Southern Utah @ UNLV Runnin' Rebels

Final Score: USU 41 - UNLV 16

I know UNLV isn't a good team, but good grief. They got blown out at home by an FCS team.
