Waters Decision To Come Thursday

The top JUCO QB prospect will decide between Penn State and Kansas State this week.

Lions247 was the first to report last night that highly-coveted JUCO QB Jake Waters would be making his new college decision on Thursday just after meeting in his home with Coach Bill O'Brien on Monday. Waters is choosing between the Nittany Lions and Kansas State.

Kansas State and coach Bill Snyder have built their program on JUCO transfers throughout the years and Waters would only add to that tradition. Penn State is looking for a quarterback to add to the depth chart (as of now there is only one -- Steven Bench -- that will be listed for the spring) and maybe to start the 2013 season. While Bench already has a season under his belt with O'Brien's playbook and top high school quarterback prospect Christian Hackenberg will be on campus next year, no one can overlook Waters's numbers at Iowa Western. This year alone, he threw for 3,501 yards to go along with his 39 touchdowns and only three interceptions.

There's probably no question that Penn State would be the best place for him to develop as a quarterback after looking at the job O'Brien and quarterbacks coach Charlie Fisher did with Matt McGloin this past year, but there is one thing that could overcome that and lure Waters to Manhattan. His girlfriend is currently a student at Kansas State and they get kinda mushy on Twitter at times (you can check for yourselves if you're that interested), so it would be no surprise and not a completely bad thing if a woman led Waters to the breadbasket of America to live out the rest of his college career.

Check back with Black Shoe Diaries on Thursday to know where Waters will end up.

UPDATE: Apparently Jake is single, Penn State ladies. This is when reading between the lines goes wrong. My apologies if it hurt you in the lady department OR the opposite if you're getting more tail now, Jake.
