Weekly Bowl Preview

Christian Petersen

The 2012-2013 bowl season kicks off with a pair of Saturday afternoon. These games may not garner much national attention, but they both should be highly-entertaining match-ups. Plus, it's just nice to have college football back to fill your Saturday.

New Mexico Bowl
Nevada vs. Arizona
ESPN 1 p.m.
The first bowl game of the season very likely could produce the most points. Both teams are blessed with prolific offenses and cursed with porous defenses. A win for Arizona would some #be the 8th of the season, which would be a satisfying way to begin the Rich Rod era considering the program's struggles under Mike Stoops. Nevada is a pesky team that always finds ways to create match-up problems.
Prediction: Arizona- 45 Nevada- 39

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
Toledo vs. (22)Utah State
ESPN 4:30 p.m.
Who's ready for some #MACtion? Toledo is capable of putting up a lot of points on just about any team, and would like nothing more than to kick Utah State out of their rare perch among the top 25. Utah State is a mere five points from being a BCS buster, suffering only two defeats to Wisconsin (in which they lost 16-14 after missing a chip shot field goal in the closing seconds) and a 6-3 loss at the hands of in-state rival BYU.
Utah State- 38 Toledo- 33
