In the final regular season AP poll of the season, Penn State received 83 points which would rank them as the 26th-best team in the nation according to Associated Press voters.
The Nittany Lions appeared on 21 ballots with their highest ranking coming from Kirk Bohls of the Austin American Statesman who ranked the 8-4 Nits at #16. Six other voters ranked Penn State in the top-20. The team was 34 points behind 25th-ranked Kent State.
Four Big Ten teams are ranked this week's poll: Ohio State (#3), Michgan (#19), Northwestern (#21) and Nebraska (#23).
Penn State is not eligible for the Coaches Poll or the BCS rankings.
