Tim Neverett of ESPN announced during the ESPN3 broadcast of Penn State-Duquesne that redshirt junior forward Sasa Borovnjak will not return to Penn State next year. Neverett said Coach Chambers and Sasa made a mutual decision that this will be his last season in a Penn State uniform. Borovnjak, who medically redshirted in 2010-2011 with a torn ACL, would have had the option to apply for a 5th year of eligibility.
With John Johnson's transfer in, Penn State was oversigned by two scholarship players for next year's roster. With Borovnjak's early departure, only one more player must leave the program to accommodate Johnson and Chambers' 2013 recruiting class.
Sasa, who will turn 24 in the summer, could return home to his native Serbia to play professionally. However, he is scheduled to graduate in the spring, which would also give him the possibility to exercise the graduate-transfer exemption for immediate eligibility next year at a new school.
Penn State leads the Dukes, 39-28 at the half.
