The Tale

Mahon recently made his third visit to Penn State since last October, and after this one, Mahon likely won't be making any other visits anywhere else. The New Jersey lineman has seen enough to know that Penn State is the place he wants to be, and can get to work with the rest of the 2013 commitments on getting more players to join the fold.

For the second time this recruiting year (Garrett Sickels), John Strollo was the lead recruiter for a Penn State commit. Similarly, for the second time, Rutgers fans are upset at losing another targeted in-state prospect to Penn State.

247Sports has Mahon ranked as the No. 13 guard prospect, and No. 14 overall prospect in the state of New Jersey (seriously, you guys, Jersey is DEEP this year), while Scout ranks Mahon as the No. 26 guard prospect in the country. Rivals puts Mahon as No. 190 prospect in the country.

Outlook

Mahon projects to the interior offensive line, and he may end being the only offensive lineman taken that is a true interior guy. Penn State has a need at tackle, and is recruiting a few big guys (including one that should be on campus in a couple weeks), but the interior isn't as pressing. However, adding quality linemen is never a bad thing, and Penn State got a good one with Mahon.
