The Tale
In addition to Penn State, Cothran took recent visits to Virginia, Maryland and Rutgers. He planned on taking more visits, but once he received the offer from Penn State, the lifelong Nittany Lion fan couldn't pass it up. Cothran was set to attend Junior Day the weekend of February 17, but a travel snafu forced him to cancel the trip at the last minute. He was able to reschedule for the weekend of March 23, where he received an official offer.
Outlook
The Council Rock standout plays right tackle in addition to defensive end. Penn State recruited primarily to play defensive end, which is Cothran's preferred position. Cothran is a soft-spoken, plays with a nasty streak on the gridiron. He finished with 22 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 blocked kick his junior year.
Cothran is the No. 22 recruit in Pennsylvania, and is ranked as the No. 36 strong side DE in the nation. Cothran seems likely to redshirt his first year to bulk up, but it's way too early to tell as he is preparing for his senior season. As we all know, LJ Sr. has a way of taking players like Cothran and molding them into absolute terrors after a year or two.
