Dan Vecellio Commits To Black Shoe Diaries

The family here at Black Shoe Diaries is getting a bit bigger, as Dan Vecellio has joined the staff and will help continue to bring you quality content. However, with all due respect to Dan, we couldn't put a siren up top, as there are currently a couple of top prospects that actually play football that are on commit watch. So instead you get a picture of Dan*.

Dan on Dan, after the jump.

*Not actually Dan.

Dan is a graduate 2011 graduate of Penn State University who will be making his second attempt at graduate school in the fall when he enrolls at Texas Tech University. He left Florida State in December and came to take over as Onward State managing editor until this weekend when some people didn't like an April Fools story that ran. Now he joins Devon Edwards as former Onward State editors turned Black Shoe Diaries authors.

He started writing for Onward State in March 2010 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming sports editor in August of that same year. His time there allowed him to be published in other outlets like StateCollege.com, the Huffington Post and Maple Street Press' "Penn State Football Preview". He mainly wrote sports, but also dabbled in opinion and student government. Diversity is awesome.

Dan grew up in Bradford, Pennsylvania so it's no wonder why he chose a path of meteorology after growing up in the icebox of the Lower 48. Being only an hour away from Buffalo (miss you, Pete), he has grown up a die-hard Sabres fan and has come to terms with the fact that he will forever root for the hopeless Bills. He was forced into the Notre Dame culture growing up, but successfully broke free of those chains when his grandfather pointed to some short Italian fella on the TV named Joe Paterno and told of the great coach and better man he was. From there, he was hooked on Penn State and now he couldn't be more happy to cover them with the great staff already assembled at Black Shoe Diaries.
