We hadn't originally planned on putting up an open thread today, since all that is left is closing arguments and some procedural matters, none of which was expected to be groundbreaking or newsworthy. But some recent news flashes on Twitter have forced us to open things up.

ABC 27 is reporting via their Twitter account (apologies for the lack of linking credit, I cannot access Twitter via my work computer) that Jerry Sandusky's son Matt was prepared to testify for the prosecution if Jerry had taken the stand. Which undoubtedly played a role (how big or small, we don't know) in Jerry's decision not to testify, because your own son testifying against you, presumably as a rebuttal character witness, is quite damning.

Also, Judge Cleland dismissed three charges this morning, two of which surrounded Victim No. 4, because "the charges did not bear out what testimony revealed." So 48 counts will go to the jury.

Closing arguments were slated to start at 9, so if anyone sees anything coming out of the courthouse, please update us with the information. The jury could theoretically have the case by lunch, so #BuckleUp for a verdict any time over the next two days.

There will be no Cover It Live event, so normal thread rules apply.
