Glenn Carson came out of (relatively) nowhere to earn a starting linebacker position in 2011 as a sophomore. He comes into the 2012 campaign, his junior season, having been fourth on the team in tackles last year and two forced fumbles. His career-high game came against Alabama, when he recorded eleven tackles.
Carson was listed as a co-starter on the spring depth chart, along with Khairi Fortt; with Fortt's departure, his starting position in the middle is virtually guaranteed. Carson is one of numerous active players on the Penn State roster from the state of New Jersey.
**correction: Carson did NOT enroll early in January, as my post had previously stated; he was actually wrestling for Southern Regional HS, winning the state championship at 215 pounds. I apologize for the error, and thanks to Barbara-Ann Carson for pointing it out!
