Massaro a Candidate for National Football Foundation Fellowship

Massaro, who is fighting off a recurring injury this season and thus seeing diminished playing time, is nonetheless among the semifinalists for the Campbell Trophy, which is given to the nation's top college football student-athlete. Having graduated last December with a degree in finance, with a 3.85 GPA, Massaro is on pace to earn a second degree, in economics, this December.

Current Oakland Raider Stefen Wisniewski was the last Penn State football player to win this honor; Wiz received this award in 2010.

In order to be nominated for this award, the semifinalists must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2, be either on the first team or a significant backup, and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.

Up to sixteen finalists for the award will be announced on October 25, and each finalist will receive an $18,000 post-graduate scholarship. The winner will be announced on December 4.

Massaro was also nominated for the Lowe's Senior CLASS award for this season.
