The Tale

Well, the tale has been covered by everyone, everywhere, so we won't get into the whole mess. The short and sweet of it is as follows: little known NFL coordinator takes over for most recognizable collegiate icon, faces unprecedented sanctions, leads team to 8-4 record, flirts with NFL, and returns for sophomore year to continue what he started.

Outlook

Honestly, I'm not sure how much the 2013 outlook changes with BOB sticking around, but his departure would have certainly meant chaos anew. He can continue to lead this #OneTeam through the sanctions all while keeping a relatively strong recruiting class together.

He can't be blamed (not by this author, at least) for flirting with the NFL. His stock is high and there are a number of NFL teams looking for a hot name. Whatever it was that made O'Brien stay doesn't matter; many Penn State fans will rest easy tonight.
