Nittany Notes: Penn State Recruiting Updates

Takes so hot you could cook an egg with them

Let's recruit more of these.
Let's recruit more of these.
Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

As we patiently await the weekend of all weekends, which includes the drink off of all drink offs (I'm underrated, but check the ranking anyway) I sense that you're all craving some 'crootin news. So 'crootin news I shall deliver to you.

Scholarship Reduction Advantages

Since the scholarship sanction reductions, the staff has been busy. Two new offers/interests could end up having a big impact on this 2014 class.

  • Jason Cabinda has finally earned his Penn State offer, and boy does he sound interested. He is still firmly committed to Syracuse at the moment, but is also visiting this weekend. Cabinda is absolutely a candidate to flip his commitment, and I will work to keep you updated on his status as well as I can.
  • Jamil Kamara, a Wide Receiver out of Virginia Beach, is now considering taking an official visit to Penn State. Kamara has been told by the staff that with the expanded class size, they are interested in having him join De'Andre Thompkins, Chris Godwin, and Troy Apke in the 2014 receiver stable. Karama is ranked as a 4* (95 overall) on 247, with a top group of Pitt, UVA, Wisconsin, and Miami. I'll keep you updated if he does choose to make an official visit to Happy Valley.

Updates on Old Friends

  • Mike Gesicki will indeed be in attendance this weekend (If you scroll down, there's a list of people you should care about who will be here this weekend) for the Whiteout game. He just visited Ohio State for their win over Wisconsin, and is now giving the Nittany Lions their last shot to make an impression. Mike is planning on making his decision shortly after this weekend, so make sure the stadium is rocking this weekend, so we can leave an impression on him.
  • I've reported a lot of things about Thomas Holley recently. From being bffs with Larry Johnson, to definitely taking an official visit to Penn State, to not taking an official visit to Penn State, I've pretty much typed it all. That being said, it seems as if he is once again on the "Official Visit to Penn State" train. I don't know guys. I'll keep you updated, which means I'll probably be telling you he's not interested again in a week.

So Who's Visiting This Weekend?

I know this is why most of you are here, so I might as well not delay any further. For the full list, visit The Lion's Den over at Lions247, right here. Here's who the average fan, and those who read my roundups, needs to be worried about for this weekend...

  • Justin Hilliard (LB) (St. Xavier (OH))
  • Minkah Fitzpatrick (CB) (St. Peter's Prep (NJ))
  • Sterling Jenkins (OT) (Baldwin (PA))
If that list doesn't make you giggle with excitement, you're probably a normal human being who doesn't care about recruiting. BUT, if you are part of this fine group of people I enjoy associating with, who love talking about high school boys, then this list should provoke those aforementioned giggles.

That's all I got for ya people. Looking forward to meeting and immediately forgetting most of you at Cari's tailgate this weekend. Bring beer. Go State.
