Two Penn Staters earned Big Ten honors after the team's historic Homecoming win on Saturday as C.J. Olaniyan was named the Defensive Player of the Week and Christian Hackenberg earned his third top freshman award of the year.
Olaniyan, who might have had his best game ever in a Penn State jersey, had eight tackles and 2.5 sacks Saturday night to go along with two pass breakups and a forced fumble in the victory over Michigan. He's the first Penn State defender to win the award since Jordan Hill in last season's finale against Wisconsin.
Hackenberg, who was also named Freshman of the Week for his peformances earlier in the year against Syracuse and UCF, went 23-of-44 for 305 yards and three touchdowns while also running for another in leading the Nittany Lions in their four-overtime victory.
Other award winners:
Offense: Jeremy Langford, RB, Michigan State
Special Teams: Mike Sadler, P, Michigan State
