Up first, tonight at 8 on the BTN, PSU plays at Illinois (find in-game stats here). The Nittany Lions are 39-8 all-time against the Illini, sweeping them in straight sets last year, when the good gals were ranked #2.
Penn State comes into tonight's match on a five match win streak, having picked up a pair of solid wins over ranked Minnesota and Wisconsin squads last weekend (in five and three sets, respectively). Senior OH Katie Slay was named Big Ten player of the week after her dominating performance, and junior S Micha Hancock was named setter of the week, which I'm still shocked at since Minnesota's Daly Santana was clearly soooo much better at serving, right?
The Nittany Lions stay at #4 in the nation this week, behind Florida, USC and defending National Champ Texas; Michigan State, the Nittany Lions' lone B1G loss on the year, clocks in at #5, and actually garnered two first place votes in the coaches poll (PSU had none). #BEE-ONE-GEE (in seriousness, it is by far the best volleyball conference in the nation).
Follow along as the Lions look to take the state of Illinois by storm this weekend.
