The Nittany Lions are on a nine-match winning streak, having last lost to Michigan State in five sets on September 27 in the conference opener. PSU can get its revenge in East Lansing tomorrow night against the now-#14 Spartans (also live on BTN), but tonight it's all about the #17 Wolverines.
Michigan comes into tonight's match 14-7 overall and 4-6 in the conference, having split their last two matches against top fifteen opponents in Purdue and MSU. Earlier in the season, the Lions used then-#10 Michigan as a bounce-back match after their loss to MSU, beating the Wolverines in four sets behind a double-double from senior Deja McClendon. Last season, Michigan was a surprise entry to the NCAA final four (its first time getting that far), losing to eventual National Champ Texas in five sets.
Penn State comes into tonight even stronger, having demolished then-#24 Ohio State and Iowa, both in straight sets, at home last weekend. Part of what made the weekend better than its previous, sub-stellar weekend of two wins at Illinois and Northwestern were fewer service errors; Micha Hancock was on fire last weekend, retaking her place on the national leaderboard in aces per set.
Tonight's match is being called by Audrey Flaugh and Mike Wolf on the Big Ten Netowrk or BTN2Go; you can follow along on Game Tracker here.
