Quick hits on this Cyber Monday...

Cari Greene/BSD

*The #2 Nittany Lions women's volleyball team nabbed the #2 seed in the NCAA tournament last night, second only to #1 seed (and #1 ranked) Texas--to whom the ladies fell earlier in the season (and who has five fewer wins, but the same number of losses--but are the defending national champions). BSD will have more on the first few rounds' match ups (as well as some open threads coming your way for the televised matches, as per usual) later on this week, but as a primer, we'll just say that the Lions will be taking on LIU Brooklyn on Friday in the first round at Rec Hall. If you're in town, stop on by to cheer on the ladies!

Oh, yeah...we see you trolling, NCAA women's volleyball selection committee...selecting either Georgia Southern or Florida State as Florida's second round matchup? Ingenious. We approve. Full bracket here.

*The PSUmen's soccer team's season ended a week after the women's last when they fell to New Mexico in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament, 2-0. Overall, though, fret not; this was a banner season for the Lions, who hadn't made a sweet sixteen in a few years--and weren't seeded in the tournament, despite having won back to back Big Ten titles. Penn State says goodbye to senior stars Grant Warming, Martin Seiler (who almost had a game-tying header last night), and Akil Howard, but will get back junior star goalie Andrew Wolverton for another run next year.

*In case you didn't know, Christian Hackenberg is a true freshman. Last night, he earned his second Athlon Sports National Freshman of the week award--the Big Ten POW honors will come out later today.

*Lastly, for those who don't already have ticket packages lined up--the PSU athletic department quietly announced yesterday that individual tickets will go on sale for the Croke Park Classic next year against UCF in Dublin, Ireland, starting next week. The tickets will be on sale starting:

December 9-10:  Nittany Lion Club member sale (up to 8 tickets per member for the PSU seating area)

December 11: Alumni Association member sale (up to 8 tickets per member for the PSU seating area)

December 16: General Public sale (for the PSU seating area).

Happy Monday, everyone!
