Allen Robinson Repeats as B1G Receiver of the Year

The junior WR was one of four Big Ten players to win in 2012 and 2013.

To the surprise of no one, Penn State wide receiver Allen Robinson was named the Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year for 2013 tonight, after leading the conference in both receptions (8.9) and receiving yards (123.0) per game. The next closest receiver, statistics-wise, was Michigan's Jeremy Gallon--and he was almost 2 receptions and four yards per game behind Robinson, numbers inflated  somewhat by the video-game-like performance versus Indiana (14 receptions for 369 yards). There was an even larger dropoff to third in the conference, with 6.6 receptions (Indiana's Cody Latimer) and 102.1 yards (Illinois' Steve Hull) per game.

Other announced award winners were QB Braxton Miller (OSU), TB Carlos Hyde (OSU), TE Devin Funchess (Michigan), OL Taylor Lewan (Michigan), DL Shilique Calhoun (MSU), LB Chris Borland (Wisconsin), Darqueze Dennard (MSU), K Jeff Budzien (Northwestern), and P Cody Webster (Purdue).

Also announced tonight were the All-Big Ten Teams; Robinson and math genius John Urschel were the only two Penn Staters named to both the Coaches' and Media first teams. DT DaQuan Jones was first team Coaches (which, in my humble opinion, is the team to watch) and second team media. Also named to the teams were Adrian Amos (honorable mention coaches), Glenn Carson (honorable mention coaches & media), Sam Ficken (honorable mention media), Christian Hackenberg (honorable mention coaches & media), Ty Howle (honorable mention coaches & media), Jesse James, (honorable mention media), Jordan Lucas (honorable mention coaches & media), CJ Olaniyan (honorable mention coaches & media), and Donovan Smith (honorable mention coaches & media). Urschel was also Penn State's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.

So, what about Hackenberg? Well, the four big awards (Offensive Player, Defensive Player, Freshman, and Coach of the Year) will be announced tomorrow, so stay tuned to BSD for that news tomorrow.
