ESPN Report: Houston Texans Have Hired Bill O'Brien

Welcome to 2014, I guess.

Reid Compton-US PRESSWIRE

After a few days of speculation, it looks as though we'll have to start speculating on a new topic...who the next PSU coach will be.

Late on New Year's Eve, ESPN reporters Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen reported that Penn State coach Bill O'Brien has signed a deal to become the next head coach of the Houston Texans. According to the report, the full details of the deal will be announced no later than Saturday.

Players and recruits were still bullish seemed convinced, even as late as Tuesday evening, that O'Brien would be staying in Happy Valley. It seems that they were misinformed, based on this ESPN report.

We'll have more on the news as it becomes available and confirmed, as well as reaction from staff members.

Vent away, BSDers.

update: CBS Sports' Jason LaCanfora is also reporting the news.
