Penn State received at least one unexpected commitment on National Signing Day with the hire of Anthony Midget as the new defensive backs coach. Midget has quickly rose through the coaching ranks since serving as a graduate assistant at Virginia Tech during the 2007 season. He was in charge of FCS Georgia State's secondary and special teams units from 2008-2011, before being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2012. He signed with Marshall to become a defensive assistant just this past January, but pulled a reverse Derrick Thomas when offered the opportunity to join the Nittany Lions coaching staff.
Some of you may remember Midget as a standout cornerback at Virginia Tech. His career included three years as a starter for the Hokies, where he helped them reach the BCS Championship Game in 1999 as a senior. He earned All-American, All-Big East and Academic All-Big East honors during a stellar senior season.
